Mount Vernon Cancer Centre, Middlesex
Calder was asked to provide lead radiation shielding for Mount Vernon Cancer Centre in Middlesex for the first CyberKnife® in an NHS hospital. This project required the highest levels of radiation shielding to ensure complete elimination of any ‘shine paths’. Calder’s Chevron Rail System was chosen for the installation of the lead bunker which took just 8 weeks.
Guy’s & St. Thomas’ Hospitals, London
Calder designed, manufactured and installed bespoke lead radiation shielding for the new TomoTherapy® treatment centre into Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals. Calder’s Chevron Rail System was used to suit the limited space that was available at the hospital, delivering and installing in just six weeks.
The Royal Marsden Hospital, Chelsea, London
London’s Royal Marsden Hospital, which is the world leader in the diagnosis and treatment of cancers, wanted to replace their old brachytherapy suite with a Cyberknife® and chose Calder to design, manufacture and install lead shielding. Their lead chevron rail system was used to increase the shielding of the existing bunker which was required for the new equipment. Calder completed the job in just over 7 weeks which was two weeks ahead of the original schedule.
