Calder doors open the way at The Christie in Manchester to Britain’s largest brachytherapy service
The first cancer patients have begun treatment at the new £3.8m radiotherapy unit at The Christie in Manchester, where Calder recently supplied and installed three lead lined steel doors. The two storey building contains seven treatment rooms and four two-bed rooms delivering Britain’s largest brachytherapy service.
The bespoke doors were designed and manufactured at our Chester facility. Commissioned by Raybloc on behalf of Interserve Construction and in conjunction with Rol-Trac, who supplied the automation and inter locks required to open and close the doors safely, the project was delivered on time and to budget.
Myles Rogerson, Interserve Construction’s Site Manager commented “ I was very impressed with the quality and functionality of the finished product, as is everyone else at The Christie associated with this project. With their wood veneer finish it’s hard to believe they weigh over 500kg each.”
