Lead Bricks/Chevron Rail

Calder’s produces lead bricks for some of the biggest companies in the defence industry in Europe. Our lead bricks are ideal for shielded reactor rooms, work spaces or bulkheads and can be constructed quickly and economically using our interlocking lead bricks and lead chevron rail.

Our two shielding systems use individual bricks of 50mm or 100mm thickness, which are designed to lock into the lead bricks surrounding it. The unique design of the bricks enables them to be layered in order to achieve precisely the thickness of shielding required by the vessel.

Our high quality cold formed lead bricks weigh between 2.8kg and 17kg dependent upon their size and function. This relatively light weight facilitates fabrication in confined spaces.

 

Due to our bricks being cold forged and therefore accurate and precisely to size, the resulting wall can be built level and true very quickly.  Cast bricks can be notoriously difficult to align making their use more expensive due to a higher labour content.

It’s believed that Calder are the last remaining producer of cold formed lead bricks in Europe.
