Hot Cells for PET
Our hot cells provide a shielded environment for the storage and handling of radioactive isotopes such as fluorine-18 or carbon-11 used in Positron Emission Tomography. Typically lead shielding of 50mm, 75mm or 100mm is used to protect workers from radiation exposure hazards, however, both shielding thickness and internal dimensions can be tailored to meet the specific needs of production or research facilities.
Lead is a very versatile material which is used in a wide range of novel situations, whether it be lead tape for ‘Tiffany’ style glass work, lead wire for weighting down cables, or lead foils for sound attenuation. Calder are the world experts.
